YOU can be the best _____________ (you fill in the blank) in the world!
I have a friend who is a magician. He is the BEST close-up magician IN THE WORLD! When I tell you this, I am not being flippant, or sarcastic, or bias. It is the honest-to-goodness truth.
How do I know he is the best close-up magician in the world?
Because when he hangs out with other top-notch, world-class, professional magicians (and I’m talking about names you would know in the world of magicians), he is the one THEY look to when they want to see excellent, perfected, smooth, awe-inspiring, how-did-he-do-that? close-up magic tricks. He is the BEST!
Me?
I am the best SINGING, COMIC, BALLOON ARTIST in the world!
I know what you’re thinking…that I am “the ONLY singing, comic, balloon artist in the world.”
Yes…and?
That is THE point…YOU can be the BEST ________________ in the world even if you are the only one.
So how do you do it?
Obviously, one way to be the best in the world is to,…well,…be the best in the world. Like my magician friend. He has perfected his craft to the point where he IS the best.
How to be the

Here is the second way: a-Start with something that you’re pretty good at (make sure it is something that you love to do…or at least something that you “like” to do) b- Add another thing you’re interested in that doesn’t relate to the first thing. c- Add ANOTHER thing you’re interested in, into the mix. d- Give these combined things a unique name, look, sound, etc., and you will be the BEST ___________ in the world…because you’ll be the ONLY ___________ in the world! |
Here are some examples:
Take a man who is a comic, funny from the get-go (#1), add prop comedy into the mix, i.e., balloons, arrow through the head (#2), add banjo-playing and magic (#3), then make it unique by adding catch phrases such as, “Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!” and “I’m just a wild and crazy guy” (#4), and you have Steve Martin, the BEST STAND-UP COMIC in the world! (Still my favorite after all these years. In 1981, he left stand-up to pursue a career in the film industry – which he has done very successfully. Still, I miss his stand-up.) To really understand how “the best” he was, read his book “Born Standing Up.”
Next, take a woman who becomes a nun (#1), take vows “to give wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor” (#2), add the ability to broker a temporary cease-fire between the Israeli army and Palestinian guerrillas to save trapped children (#3), then make it unique by winning a Nobel Peace Prize and being beatified by your represented church (#4), and you have the Blessed Mother Teresa, the BEST CRUSADER FOR THE POOR in the world!
Finally, take a man who loves camping and the great outdoors (#1), add compassion and insight into young men who want and need a great male role model (#2), then add tips and tricks and quips with sticks and pudding mix, into the mix (#3), and make it unique by taking the young men on a camping trip to a place where no one else has ever camped before (#4) and you have Chuck Merrill, the BEST SCOUTMASTER in the world. (We got to name one of the passes that we hiked over…it is now called “Chuck’s Pass”)
Of course, you have never heard of Chuck. He was my scoutmaster growing up. He was funny, and smart, and he cared about us as a future generation of leaders, citizens, and children of God. It isn’t important that you don’t know Chuck, for you see, you don’t have to be famous to be the best in the world.
This can be done with your persona, your products, and/or your services. You can use this information to make yourself welathy and happy in your life. (More on that in future articles)
But for now, go ahead… be the BEST ___________ IN THE WORLD!!
I dare you!!
