To profit from your hobbies is fun and easy. Well...it's easier than some of the other ways of making money happily!

You CAN make money off of any kind of hobby. You just need the right tools, knowledge and passion.

Quite a while ago, I heard a saying that I think would be apropos at this point:

"If you want to learn about something, read a book.
     If you want to learn MORE about that something, take a class.
If you want to learn even MORE about that something, teach a class.
     And if you want to learn THE MOST about that something, write a book."

Those last two things are just two of the ways you can profit from your hobbies.

Let's look closer at them, and at other ways to make money from doing what you love.

Just so you know, it isn't enough to love doing the hobby. If you are going to make money from it, you have to get really good at it.

I had a friend who loved to make picture frames. He got really good at it, found his niche, and landed a great contract that set him up for the rest of his life.

• TEACH A CLASS - When you read a book or take a class, you are getting to know more about the hobby than the usual person, but when you TEACH a class, you have to know more than the people who are reading the book or taking the class. There is research involved, as well as real life experiences. And since people will pay to take a class on just about anything, YOU can be the teacher that gets paid.
  
  And you don't have to teach a whole class full of people...you could do one-on-one tutoring.
  
  
• WRITE A BOOK - If you thought there was a lot of research in teaching a class, just multiply that by 2 or 5 or 10 and you've got your book. Writing a book about your hobby might seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be.
  
  If you don't feel comfortable about writing the book yourself, you can hire a ghost writer. A ghost writer is a professional writer who gets hired to write down what you are thinking and then putting it in a format that will be easy and interesting to read.
  
  There are a few ways to publish your book. One way is to send it in to a lot of different publishers and hope that one of them will want to publish your book. Another is to self publish. Or you might want to consider turning your book into an eBook and sell it online. Or you might be the expert who submits or even becomes a guest writer of a magazine that specializes in your hobby.
  
  
• GO TO FAIRS, SHOWS, and SHOPS - To show off your product or service, rent space at a fair, a convention, or in a consignment shop.
  I know a woman who makes jewelry. She started off doing fairs and shows, and now she has a multi-million dollar jewlery and cabinet hardware business.
  
  
• HAVE PRODUCTS/SERVICES THAT RELATE TO YOUR HOBBY - From "Antiquing" to "Zinneas," whatever your hobby is, you can build a slew of products and services around them.
  
  I have some friends whose hobby revolved around "food storage"...you know, freeze dried this, and powdered that. Food for a rainy day, so to speak. What they did to make it fun and profitable was to open a food storage store and give it a theme. The name of the store is the Zombie Apocalypse. They are profiting on the zombie craze that is going on right now.
  
  I'm sure you can find a fun and clever way to market and sell your product/service.
